Considered
an integral part of Silicon Valley, Foster City is renowned for its local
industry and proximity to Silicon Valley cities. As the gateway to the East Bay
cities via Highway 92, it also provides access to Highway 101, which makes
commuting to San Francisco in the north and San Jose in the south convenient.
Foster
City is a premier employment center, with countless Fortune 500 headquarters,
including Visa, Life Technologies, Sony Computer Entertainment and IBM. And
there’s so much more: It boasts sought-after waterfront developments like
Bayporte and Whalers Island, whose well-manicured waterfront properties and
award-winning architecture are a draw for high-end residents.
The
region also offers a wealth of green space, with parks adjacent to Foster
City’s man-made lagoons and canals. It features more parks per capita than any
other city in California. For families, the city is known for its consummate
educational system. A vast majority of Foster City’s school children score well
above State and National averages. It makes sense then that parents are very
active in their kids’ lives and the area is known for being very family-oriented.
There
are also excellent public facilities, including one of the most modern
libraries on the Peninsula, Free Summer Concerts and perhaps San Francisco’s
premiere fireworks festival on the 4th of July.
